My life long fantasy, and I say fantasy, because that’s all its ever been, is to be skinny…and to be able to turn heads when I walked into a room.

My bestfriend Tinkerbell is skinny. Am I jealous of her? No, not at all! She is Tinkerbell! She is able to walk into a room and have the room suddenly fill with brightness and love. I hope you have all found your one true Tinkerbell…and when you find them, look after them, because that kind of magic is not easy to find.
However, while sitting with Tinkerbell the other day, drinking coffee and sorting out the worlds problems, I had a realization. Guess what? Skinny girls have problems too!!
Now don’t freak out and think has Fat Dee been hiding under a rock…no, I am quite aware of Anorexia, and all its hellish friends, but Tinkerbell is thin, she is not Anorexic.
My big fat life has been full of the usual comments. “Thunder thighs…” – “Lard ass…” – “You must like your tucker…” – “You need to go on a diet…” whereas Tinkerbell’s helpful comments are, “You need a feed…” – “You need worming…” – “Are you anorexic?”
Do the so called do-gooders expect me to say, “Thank you for letting me know I have thunder thighs.”
“Thank you for pointing out my large butt. It must have crept up on me in the middle of the night 40 years ago, and can you believe I never noticed it before?” – and duh…who doesn’t like their tucker?
Solution to ‘Fat People’ – Let’s herd ’em up like cattle, brand ’em fat and let them free-range on grass for the rest of their days. Well guess what you fat experts? I would be the fattest cow in the Guineas Book of Records, and some hunter would shoot me, hang my big fat head over his fireplace and brag about the whopper he got.
Now in defense of my darling Tinkerbell. She can put away a feed as good as any of us. She doesn’t have worms and she is not Anorexic. This is her natural self. She is tall and thin. We don’t need the body police to kidnap her, put a funnel down her neck and pour in the entire contents of Willie Wonker’s Chocolate Fountain.
Now I will be talking more about ‘The Fat’ rather than ‘The Skinny’, because yes, I am Fat and that is what I know and live.
I hope in time all you beautiful thin Tinkerbells in the world will join us too and share your experiences.
So I guess I wanted to get this straight right from the get go. We all have our demons, our insecurities and our feelings. Lets share them, support each other and love the skin we’re in.
Be kind to yourself,
Love Big Fat Dee
