At the end of a two week holiday with my darling Tinkerbell (My Best Friend), the last step in sharing My Big Fat Lie with you was to get to the hairdresser. For the last 35 years I have coloured my hair, and in the last twenty years coloured it to hide the greys.

In sharing my story, I felt that there was one part of my armour, my facade that I hide behind to fit in, the last of my war paint, that still needed to be removed. So I decided to take the plunge and embrace my silver fox and let my greys shine through.
Now Tinkerbell had told me that her hairdresser was fabulous…she said, she was openly happy, just like me. So I made an appointment, counted down the days. However, nothing could prepare me for the dynamic young woman I was about meet.
From the outside of Stacey’s salon, the shop looks like any other little shop, in any little street in any little town. You can’t see in the windows as they are covered with heavy drapes, and as I stepped onto the top step there was an antique birdcage with a few old books inside. It hinted to me that there might be something special behind this door…
MAGIC
Upon entering you are engulfed in Queen Stacey’s world. As she describes it, Pandora’s Box. In the middle of the ceiling hangs a gorgeous chandelier, and under that chandelier you soon hear the majestic voice of the queen herself.
“Hi Dee, you beautiful girl, have a seat and I will be with you for a moment.” 😀
Now I had one of the loveliest afternoons in my life, chatting with Queen Stacey and her beautiful clients, the ladies of Monto. We were sharing stories, laughing, and at times I had a tear in my eye. I drank a cup of Queen Stacey’s coffee, and I don’t mind telling you, the coffee is fabulous! At times I actually forgot about the hair do that was taking place.
Then the great reveal came.

I didn’t put my glasses on and look in the mirror until the Queen had finished my ‘do’. For the first time in a hairdressers salon I burst into laughter and total awe, because Queen Stacey had listened! She saw me, SHE SAW ME…and looking back at me in that mirror was the truest version of me.
This was the first time in my life that I saw me. No guard up, no camouflage, no war paint…just me…and I loved what I saw.
I sit today telling you this story with a big cheesy grin on my face and I am loving myself sick. I am back to my roots, literally. The mirror has been my enemy for years…I never liked who was looking back at me.
If you in ever get the chance to visit Monto Queensland, ring and book an appointment with the Queen. She will send you away with love in your heart and a red-hot hairdo! Here is the link to Stacey’s Pandora’s box – Stacey Baldwin’s Salon

She certainly is Mandy and thank you for your kind words. xxx
Yes, yes, yes!!!! You got her down. That woman is Magic & Beautiful all the way through. She is also passing this trait on to her children. I think we should celebrate the GREAT that Stacey has to the core. The whole world could learn lessons just by hanging about as a fly on her wall. I love her too.
The whole world certainly could Lyn!
